You know when you’re a child, how everything seems so big? You can never reach the counter for the cookie jar, you have trouble getting up onto chairs, and you have to even be picked up to get some places. You look up, and you see adults.
Adults are huge to a child’s eyes.
Not only in terms of size, but in everything. Adults can reach the top shelf and they can also go places that kids can’t. Adults have access to things kids don’t. And I think that’s often the reason why kids want to grow up. They want to be big. They want to be on par with their parents.
Often, the bane of a child is their mother.
The woman who won’t let you eat cookies for dinner, or let you stay up late. The adult who makes sure you do your homework, brush your teeth, and eat your veggies. Sometimes you’ll want to fight her. You’ll throw a tantrum or yell or even lash out. But she’ll be there, strong and unflappable, unamused. You’ll be punished to some extent for your outburst, but over time, you learn your lesson.
And as you grow, you will start to understand and value those lessons.
If she hadn’t made you eat and understand how important a balanced diet is, you would probably be in a sad state of health. If she didn’t make sure you had a regulated schedule, you wouldn’t really understand how to organize your time. There are so many things she did for you, that you never really understood until you were older.
And when you visit her, when you hold her hands, you realize how small her hands actually are. You see how, regardless of being a woman or her size or her physical limitations, this woman raised you. Through her and with her strength, you have become who you are today.
This may not apply to all those with mothers, but I like to think that even without direct influence from your biological mother, you found someone who you could depend on to provide you with that maternal love.

Who do you think is going to be the character that DC outs? I'm sort of excited that an established, major DC character is going to be brought out of the closet, but I have no idea who it will be... maybe Alan Scott. It's possible. I just wish it were Tim, but Scott Snyder said ‘a character not seen since the relaunch will come out as gay.’
It’s extremely annoying what they’re doing, to be honest.
I understand the excitement for this, but DC is just milking it way too much. I mean, building up excitement is good and all, but for the most part it seems to be breeding discontent.
A Batman character. Male. Someone who hasn’t shown up yet. And whatever hints they’ve given us. They don’t tell us who it’s going to be and that means when it happens, there’s a chance the populace will be greatly disappointed.
I honestly haven’t been keeping track of this issue. Firstly, because I refuse to take part in the DCnU and secondly, because of the way DC is handling this issue.
It feels like they’re making this so big so that we think they’re “so amazing for doing this!” But honestly?
That’s all I feel towards the subject.
